Copyright

In class on Thursday Jason Hardin, manager of access services, came to talk about the copyright policy. I believe the class as a whole learned much from Mr. Hardin about the copyright policy, especially concerning sharing files. I had not known that burning CDs for friends is illegal, so I now know that I should pretend to have never burned a CD before. Also, the extent to which one can get in trouble for file sharing is absolutely astounding. I understand that sharing files is discrediting the author's work, but the massive amounts of money that one may have to pay is truly shocking. Personally, I believe that I should have the right to burn CDs and share them with my friends, especially because everything else you buy can be shared. However, I understand that it is unfair to the artist and should be discouraged.
