This humorous picture, from Kansas (my neighboring state), was manipulated by "Dad" Martin for the Martin Post Card Co. The image is manipulated so it looks like the man is riding a giant fish and attempting to kill it with an axe.
Obviously, the size of the fish was exaggerated as well as the placement of the man on the fish. The manipulation was used to provoke a humor response from the audience. I chose this picture because it was from Kansas.

Class Field Trip

In class on Thursday we visited the first floor of the library, which contains the AT&T Center for Learning and Technology.
We all had an interesting time hearing Robert Chapman speak about the center. I know now where I can go for a scanner and where I can add audio materials into a project. Scanning images may come in handy for future projects for my Computer Class. Overall, a very interesting place that I may use in the future.

Copyright

In class on Thursday Jason Hardin, manager of access services, came to talk about the copyright policy. I believe the class as a whole learned much from Mr. Hardin about the copyright policy, especially concerning sharing files. I had not known that burning CDs for friends is illegal, so I now know that I should pretend to have never burned a CD before. Also, the extent to which one can get in trouble for file sharing is absolutely astounding. I understand that sharing files is discrediting the author's work, but the massive amounts of money that one may have to pay is truly shocking. Personally, I believe that I should have the right to burn CDs and share them with my friends, especially because everything else you buy can be shared. However, I understand that it is unfair to the artist and should be discouraged.
